OBX Beach & Weather does not require an account and does not ask users to provide a name, email address, mailing address, or payment information in order to use the app.
Information used by the app
The app requests weather, marine, surf, tide, safety-alert, beach-access, and camera information over the internet. As with ordinary internet requests, the servers providing that information may automatically receive limited technical information such as an IP address, request time, device or operating-system information, and the requested app location. This information is used to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the requested service.
App settings and preferences that do not need server delivery are stored locally on the user’s device.
Third-party services and video
The app displays or retrieves information supplied by weather, marine, surf, government, mapping, and video providers. Those providers may process routine technical information under their own privacy practices when their services are contacted.
The Nags Head Cam uses YouTube content inside an in-app web view. Opening that feature can result in requests to YouTube/Google, which may receive technical information such as an IP address, device/browser information, and request details under their own privacy practices. The app uses a nonpersistent web-view data store to reduce retained browser data on the device, but that setting does not control information processed by the third-party service itself.
Advertising, tracking, and sale of information
OBX Beach & Weather does not display third-party advertising, does not use information for cross-app or cross-site tracking, and does not sell personal information.
Data retention and deletion
The app does not maintain user accounts or an app-user profile database. Preferences stored locally on the device remain until they are changed or reset, or until the app and its local data are removed from the device.
Routine server logs used to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service may be retained temporarily and then rotated or removed according to the operational and security practices of the website host and applicable service providers. Because the app does not maintain an account tied to the user, there is generally no account-level personal record held by OBX Beach & Weather to delete.
If you believe information associated with your use of the service is held directly by OBX Beach & Weather and would like to request access, correction, or deletion, contact weather@sunnysideupweather.com. Requests will be evaluated subject to applicable legal, security, and operational requirements.
Your choices
You can stop future app network requests by closing or uninstalling the app. You can choose not to open the Cam feature if you do not want to load YouTube content. The current app does not require device location, contacts, photos, health, Bluetooth, camera, or microphone permission to provide its core features.
Children’s privacy
The app is a general-audience weather and beach-information service. It does not knowingly request or collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app’s features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The current version will remain available on this page with its effective date.
